Have you tried it?  Here’s a video of how I color with Distress Markers on Canson Cold Press watercolor paper.  It’s very basic but if you are curious how to begin, it might be an encouragement to you.

I did make this in HD, so you can click the gear and watch it that way if you want.

Here’s a close up but remember… I was coloring standing up so it’s kinda messier than usual! : )  I think coloring on Cold Press paper has a different look than Hot Press paper for sure and definitely different than Copic coloring.  I have to keep telling my self that it’s ok! lol

And just to make you laugh…how would you answer this question?  huh?  Did you or didn’t you?  Remember that white paste???   I do! lol

  1. Really enjoyed your video on the water coloring. Thanks for showing all the new stencils putting them on black really showed them up.

  2. You step-by-step video is really good… I learned a lot and have been holding off getting the TH pens because I was not sure if I would like them… will you convinced me that I NEED them… I really like the SU-crayons and have been using them for several years but started using some Memento pens to color with but there more perment than the TH looks…
Love the card you created too!!

  3. Thanks Pam for sharing, I haven’t used the distress markers like this, but will be in the next several weeks, I’m going on vacation and taking a bunch of stamped images to color with pencil and the markers. This really helps thanks for the time. Yes, you better get another marker before you do this again.

  4. Ya’ know….I am sooo glad you did this video as I bought the TH distressed markers and did not like them. I will definitely be getting some of the Cannon water color paper. What type of watercolor paper do you use for your copic markers? Great video and yes you are a Pro…. I love how you bring images to life. Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. Ok,, you made this look WAY too much fun! So, of course, that translates to “I now want distress markers!” I’m hoping Michaels has them & has a 40% or 50% off coupon in tomorrow’s paper. Your card is just adorable, too, by the way! I’m so glad you make videos so the rest of us can see first hand how to do things!

  6. Hey Pam, thanks sooooo much for making this video! Looks like I’m not the only one who’s really appreciating your video. Yes, you do make it look easy, maybe even I can do it you think? Well now I’ll have to go shopping for the supplies. Your card is beautiful, your grand daughter is going to love it! Again, thanks for taking the time to do this, great job dear friend!!!

  7. I love coloring with these markers too! You might already know this… If you have not already done so you ‘can’ flip the nib of your distress marker so it will be like new. Only on the brush side. The other side should stay very nice.

  8. Your card is precious and delicately beautiful. I enjoyed watching and learning from your video. I especially was amazed by your technique of spraying water on the mat and using a very tiny brush with the Distress markers. I have some Distress markers and will try out your technique. Thank you for teaching me something new and useful.

  9. GREAT Video!!! Really lovely coloring…so glad you joined us at Seize the Birthday! Hope to see you again soon! Nice work!!!

  10. You have a wonderful blog. Soooo much inspiration and beautiful work!
Will try and see if I can find that aquarelle paper in Sweden, looks great.

    Have a lovely day/Gunilla

  11. This is such an excellent video, and I’ve struggled with w/c with these markers. You made it look so easy. As soon as I catch up my Hero Arts online class, I’m going to try what you showed. Thanks for taking time to make this great video. I’m also beginning to collect the MB stencils. Hoping some of them will work with the stencil class. TFS

I love hearing from you! Thank YOU!
